Forward to the Past

I am inordinately fond of steampunk stylings, as regular readers have figured out by now. Sadly, very few of these items are mass-produced; most are the products of meticulous craftsmanship by skilled kit-bashers and machinists.

This Victorian Dell Flat-Panel Monitor is a marvelous example, as the artisan provided step by step instructions to enable the reader to build their own. Ah, if only I wasn’t voted “Most likely to cut his hand off with a band-saw” in school.

The monitor is pictured above with the hand-crafted wooden keyboard by the same artist. What a marvelous set, needing only a mouse to be completely functional. It would be just the thing for calculating the amount of black powder needed to fire a gigantic cannon shell full of intrepid explorers to the surface of the Moon!
