Yes, there is much discussion of Google Talk these days. I’m not really all that keen on instant messaging —I have plenty of timesinks as it is, thanks — but I do like trying out new software. So if you are so inclined, please feel free to try out Google Talk and add me to your friends list (my gmail.com address is mkhall). While Google only provides a Windows client right now, the service connects to Macs via iChat, and *nix via Gaim (among others).
Personally, I am much more intrigued by another upcoming Google project: the Google Translator.
